Yearbook known as YBK at EBV is an elective course that gives students marketable experience in print and multimedia publishing. This course works solely toward the compilation and selling of a large, finished, and original product. YBK class is different from other courses taught at EBV, in fact, it is a real business class. Students will compose, construct, and edit all elements of computerized text layout, graphic art, as well as multimedia and digital photography.

In this course students, will gain skills in page design and advanced publishing techniques. Participants gain useful, real world skills in time management, marketing, teamwork, copy writing, video editing, photography and graphic design. This course also examines legal and ethical issues of media law and copyright.

Students will be given challenging real world assignments typical of the creative industry. Original and high quality work is expected and students will be given opportunities to redo work until it meets standards specified during instruction.

Classroom activities will include reading, research, projects, and problem solving. Students will often work in teams, but will be expected to complete individual assignments in relation to the team's work. Assessment methods will include written exams, tests, quizzes, oral and written research reports and reading assignments.

This course aligns with the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE), the trusted source for professional development, knowledge generation, advocacy, and leadership for innovation. These standards, identified throughout the Visual Design curriculum, are integrated into the various activities students engage in during YBK class.
