Elementary School

The Elementary School at EBV seeks to nurture and develop students from diverse backgrounds and experiences who will make a difference in their communities.

The beginning of lifelong learning

Elementary school at EBV is a place where the foundation of learning takes hold, and where we have the rewarding job of fostering and challenging students to maintain their curiosity and creativity while extending their self-confidence and self-advocacy.

A daily schedule of core subjects in reading language arts, mathematics, world languages, science, and social studies is punctuated by specialist classes in art, music, physical education, technology, and library use. Experiential learning outside the classroom through field trips and community service inspires students and enriches the curriculum.

From the earliest grades, EBV students are active learners; elementary school students learn to analyze and question across subject areas, and learn to express themselves in writing, presentations, and discussions. They understand where they are in their learning journey, what their learning targets are, and what it will take for them to reach the next steps. Our students take risks and learn from failure in a community of acceptance, preparing them to meet and surmount high academic standards.

We recognize the importance of friendships and working cooperatively, and foster the development of skills that contribute to students’ personal and academic success. Social-emotional programs are integrated into the culture and program of each grade level and EBV counselors are matched with students for three-year cycles to provide personal support and facilitate building emotional competencies.

EBV is committed to educating the whole child and giving an opportunity to learn by experience. Students learn to collaborate, think creatively, reason critically, and communicate effectively. Starting as early as K1, students are given opportunities to explore, experiment and discover with hands-on-learning. Throughout the elementary experience, the curriculum provides a framework for student creativity and curiosity.

The Elementary School curriculum is aligned with Common Core State Standards and follows a Standards Based grading scale. The program includes core subjects taught in a homeroom class environment along with encore (specialists) classes which include art, music, and physical education. The core subjects include: English, science, social studies, math, and Spanish.

Technology is integrated throughout the curriculum and supported by technology coaches. The technology coaches help to develop learning opportunities for students using technology as well as how to become responsible digital citizens.

All students have access to a team of professionals to advocate and support academic, social and personal development. EBV student support services include: School Psychologist, Counseling Department, and Learning Support Services (LSS).

We are not for profit

As an independent, not-for-profit school, all tuition and fees fund the cost of education. The not-for-profit status is an important feature of EBV as it supports the ability of the school to focus on the quality of education over satisfying any profit or investment expectations of owners or shareholders.

We Pursue Our Passions

Students at EBV are encouraged to explore their passions and get involved. Taking learning beyond the school day, students can pursue their interests with numerous extracurricular opportunities in the Arts, Athletics, and Campus Recreation as well as help to support their community through Student Organizations.

We are Global Citizens

Global Citizenship at EBV creates authentic experiences that cultivate global understanding, fosters critical consciousness, and empowers people to positively impact their communities and the world.
